Do you need help connecting your Roku to your home (or any Wi-Fi) network? Does the streaming device frequently disconnect from Wi-Fi? Is your Roku connected to the Wi-Fi, but apps don’t have internet access?

This tutorial covers troubleshooting solutions for Roku’s Wi-Fi connectivity issues. The steps apply to all Roku devices and models.

1. Use an HDMI Extender

The closer your Roku device is to your router, the better the network reception and signal strength. Using an HDMI extender may improve signal reception if you have a Roku Streaming Stick (plugged into the back of your TV).

Roku Streaming Sticks don’t include an HDMI extender cable. Fill out this form to have Roku ship you a free HDMI extender.

2. Troubleshoot Your Router or Connection

Roku devices have a built-in network troubleshooter that can help diagnose and resolve connectivity issues.

Go to Settings > Network > Check connection and press OK on your Roku remote.

Roku TV network connection test page

Wait while the tool checks your streaming player and network connection. A red X icon next to “Wireless connection” means your Roku cannot establish a connection with your router’s Wi-Fi network.

Roku network connection test result page

A red X icon next to “Internet connection” means your Roku is connected to Wi-Fi but doesn’t have internet access. Rebooting your router or updating its firmware might fix the problem. Contact your service provider if your router still doesn’t have internet access. Reset your Wi-Fi router to factory default if the issue persists.

Some Roku devices/models (e.g., Roku Express 3930/3931) are only 2.4 GHz capable. Hence, they’ll only connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Switch your router to the 2.4 GHz band if your Roku model supports only one Wi-Fi band.

Head to Settings > System > About to check your Roku device’s model.

Roku System settings screen

Your Roku might be on the router’s blacklist if other devices connect successfully to the Wi-Fi network. If you can access the router’s admin panel, check its MAC Address Filtering settings, and whitelist your Roku.

Quick Tip: You might need your Roku’s MAC address to remove it from a router’s blacklist. Go to Settings > System > About > Wireless MAC address to check your Roku’s MAC address.

Wireless MAC address on Roku TV "System info" page

Another thing to check is your router’s device/connection limit. Say your router has a 12-device limit. Your Roku won’t connect to the Wi-Fi network if a dozen devices are already on the network. Disconnect one (or more devices) from the network and reconnect your Roku.

Connecting your Roku to a different Wi-Fi network—your phone’s mobile hotspot, maybe—is another way to troubleshoot connectivity issues. Restart your Roku or reset its network settings if it won’t connect to any Wi-Fi network.

3. Reset Your Roku Connection

Performing a connection reset can flush corrupt or incorrect network configurations interfering with Wi-Fi connectivity.

Go to Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Network connection reset and select Reset connection. The network reset restarts your Roku TV or streaming player.

"Reset connection" highlight on Roku's Advanced system settings screen

Afterward, head to Settings > Network > Set up connection > Wireless and (re)connect your Roku to Wi-Fi.

Wireless network set up screen on Roku

4. Restart Your Roku

A system reboot can also resolve temporary glitches preventing it from connecting to Wi-Fi.

Head to Settings > System > Power > System restart and choose Restart.

"Restart" option on Roku TV Power settings menu

Alternatively, unplug your Roku from its power source, wait a few minutes, and plug it back into the wall outlet.

5. Switch to Ethernet

Ethernet connections are typically faster and more stable than Wi-Fi. If your Roku device has an Ethernet port, connect the streaming player to your router using an Ethernet cable.

You need a USB-to-Ethernet adapter to connect Roku devices with USB ports to a wired network. This Roku Support tutorial has a list of verified third-party adapters compatible with Roku devices.

6. Factory Reset Your Roku

Roku Premiere and its remote

Resetting your Roku will erase all settings and personal preferences to factory default. The operation also unlinks the streaming device from your Roku account. After exhausting all troubleshooting options, we recommend performing a factory reset as a last resort.

Go to Settings > System > Advanced system > Factory reset and choose Factory reset everything. Next, enter the code below the number pad and select OK to start the factory reset.

Roku TV "Factory reset" screen

Contact Roku Support

If your Roku streaming device won’t connect to Wi-Fi after a factory reset, it may have a factory defect. Chat with a Roku Support agent for technical support. If you have a third-party Roku TV, contact the TV manufacturer instead.

]]>
The Netflix error NW-3-6 appears when a network connectivity issue prevents your device from accessing Netflix. The troubleshooting solutions in this tutorial will help your streaming device reconnect to Netflix.

The error code is prevalent on smart TVs and game consoles (PlayStation and Xbox). You could also get the error code in streaming media players like Roku, Android TV, and Blu-ray players.

1. Close and Reopen Netflix

Restarting the Netflix application can help your streaming device connect to Netflix, especially if other apps have internet access. If the error code NW-3-6 persists, check your device’s network settings and ensure the Netflix application has internet access permission.

2. Close Unneeded Applications

Your streaming device might fail to connect to Netflix if other applications use up network bandwidth. Say, for instance, you’re downloading a large file, updating an app, or installing a new application.

Close unneeded applications running in the background, pause bandwidth-heavy operations and check if you can stream Netflix. Reboot your router if the error code persists or other applications can’t connect to the internet.

3. Change or Verify DNS Settings

You could get the Netflix error NW-3-6 if there’s an issue with your internet service provider’s Domain Name System (DNS) server. Also, using custom DNS settings might prevent your streaming device from connecting to Netflix servers.

Switching to reputable public DNS servers could boost internet speed and resolve connectivity issues.

Our Best Free Public DNS Servers compilation has a bunch of top-class public DNS servers to try out. Contact your network administrator if you can’t access the router’s settings menu.

If you can’t change your router’s DNS settings, Netflix recommends contacting your internet service provider (ISP) and asking them to ensure your device(s) can connect to the following addresses:

  • secure.netflix.com
  • appboot.netflix.com
  • uiboot.netflix.com
  • fast.com

Contact your router manufacturer if you need help changing DNS servers or IP address settings.

Recommended DNS Settings for PlayStation

Netflix recommends using the following configurations for wireless and wired connections on PlayStation consoles:

  • IP Address Settings > Automatic
  • DHCP Host or DHCP hostname > Don’t Specify or Do Not Set
  • DNS Settings > Automatic
  • Proxy Server > Don’t Use or Do Not Use
  • MTU or MTU Settings > Automatic
  • UPnP > Enable

Check your PlayStation’s connection settings and verify that your connection uses these default settings.

Go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection, navigate to the network, and press the Options button on your controller. Then, select Advanced Settings to enter the network configuration screen.

Configure the network according to Netflix’s recommendation and select OK. Reopen Netflix and check if the streaming app works correctly.

Recommended DNS Settings for Xbox

Open your Xbox’s Settings menu, head to General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings, and set DNS Settings to Automatic.

For Xbox 360, head to Settings > System Settings > Network Settings > [Network Name] > Configure Network > DNS Settings and select Automatic.

4. Reboot Your Router or Modem

Power cycling your router can improve connectivity speed and resolve issues stopping your device from connecting to Netflix. Before rebooting your router, try streaming Netflix on other devices connected to the same network as your streaming device.

Reboot your router if the Netflix error code NW-3-6 error code affects all devices. Unplug the router from its power source, wait 30-60 seconds, and plug it back in.

Connect your device to the router/modem using an ethernet cable if Netflix (or other apps) doesn’t work over Wi-Fi.

Update the router’s firmware or reset it to factory default if the Netflix code NW-3-6 persists after the reboot.

5. Turn Off VPN or Proxy Apps

Virtual Private Network (VPN) apps and proxy servers can interfere with your device’s internet connection. Turn off these apps if other devices on your home network can access Netflix, but your media player, smart TV, or console keeps throwing the error code NW-3-6.

6. Reboot Your Streaming Device

Turn off your streaming device or disconnect it from its power source and wait for a few seconds. Reconnect your device to your home network and try streaming Netflix again. Try a different network if the NW-3-6 error persists.

Contact your ISP or reset your device’s internet connection settings if Netflix doesn’t work on any Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.

7. Update the Netflix App

Running the latest Netflix version on your device can fix buffering problems, connectivity errors, and other streaming issues. Open your device’s app store and install any update available for the Netflix app.

Alternatively, head to your device’s settings menu and enable automatic app updates. That allows your streaming device to automatically install new versions of the Netflix app in the app store.

8. Update Your Streaming Device

The Netflix app sometimes malfunctions if the streaming app no longer supports your device (or operating system). Head to your device’s system settings menu and update its software or firmware to the latest version.

Contact your device manufacturer or refer to its instructions manual if you need help installing software/firmware updates.

9. Reset Your Device’s Network Settings

Resetting your device’s network configurations to factory default could resolve connection issues causing the NW-3-6 error. Contact your device manufacturer or refer to its instruction manual for network reset instructions.

Fix Netflix Error Code NW-3-6

The Netflix error code NW-2-5 and NW-3-6 have similar causative factors and solutions. The troubleshooting recommendations above should fix the NW-3-6 error and restore the Netflix service to your streaming device. Contact Netflix if you still have trouble accessing the streaming service.

Running too many apps on your Amazon Fire TV will affect the streaming device’s performance. If your Fire TV freezes or runs slowly, closing some applications will speed up its performance. Closing an unresponsive or malfunctioning application can also get it working correctly again.

Unlike Apple TV and other high-end streaming devices, Fire TV devices don’t have an app switcher where you can view and close background applications. You can only force-stop applications in the settings menu or via third-party “task killer” apps. This tutorial covers step-by-step instructions for force-closing applications on Amazon Fire TV devices.

Note: The instructions and recommendations in this tutorial apply to all Amazon Fire TV models—Fire TV Stick, Firestick Lite, etc.

How to (Force) Close Apps on Your Fire TV

You should only force-close an application when it’s glitching, unresponsive, or affecting your Fire TV’s performance.

  1. Select the Settings/Gear icon in the top-right corner of your Fire TV home screen and choose Applications.

Close Apps for Glitch-Free Streaming

Closing unneeded background apps on your Fire TV has several benefits. First, it frees up memory for essential applications to run smoothly. Force-stopping and reopening streaming applications like Netflix can also fix buffering issues if you have a high-speed connection.

If an application keeps glitching after force-stopping it, update the app and reboot your Fire TV. You should also clear the app’s cache and update your Fire TV’s software. Uninstall and reinstall the application, or contact the developer if the issue persists.

Is your Amazon Fire TV device stuck in a reboot loop? Does the streaming device randomly restart during usage? We’ll show you how to resolve the issue and keep your Fire TV powered on.

The troubleshooting fixes in this post apply to all Amazon Fire TV devices and models—Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV Stick.

1. Power Cycle or Hard Restart Your Fire TV

Hard rebooting Fire TV devices can fix power issues and keep the streaming device running correctly. Performing a hard reboot entails physically reconnecting your Fire TV to its power source.

Unplug your Fire TV’s power adapter from the wall outlet or remove the USB cable from the Fire TV. Wait 30 seconds, reconnect the USB cable or power adapter, and turn on the power source.

2. Try a Different Power Source

Faulty power outlets can cause your Fire TV to keep restarting. Try powering the streaming device from a different wall outlet or power strip and check if it stays on. Push your Fire TV’s power adapter into the power source and ensure the connection is snug and secure.

Your power adapter or charging cable is likely faulty if the streaming device keeps restarting.

3. Use Authentic Power Accessories

All Fire TV devices ship with a USB cable and power adapter. Amazon recommends using the included accessories because they’ll power your Fire TV safely without any issues or damage.

Knockoff cables or power adapters might not power your Fire TV device. Unsupported power accessories could even do permanent damage to the streaming device.

Does your Fire TV keep restarting when using a third-party power adapter or cable? Switch to the power adapter and cable included with your Fire TV device out-of-the-box.

Additionally, power your Fire TV directly from a wall outlet or power strip, not your TV. That’s because the USB ports on most TVs don’t supply enough power to keep Fire TV devices powered on.

Loose cable connections can also cause your Fire TV to restart when turned on or during usage. Ensure the power adapter and Fire TV’s USB connection is secure and fastened.

If you lose or damage your Fire TV USB cable or power adapter, buy an Amazon-branded replacement from Amazon’s website. If you use a third-party power adapter, ensure its minimum current and voltage ratings are one ampere (1A) and five volts (5V), respectively.

Adapters with power output ratings below the recommendation (5V/1A) above won’t power your Fire TV correctly.

4. Disconnect Other HDMI Devices from Your TV

The HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature allows compatible HDMI devices in your entertainment system to control one another.

Does your Fire TV randomly restart when you enable the HDMI CEC feature? There’s a chance that other HDMI devices connected to your TV are causing interference with your Fire TV. Disabling HDMI CEC in your TV or Fire TV settings menu should fix the issue.

Unplug your Fire TV from its power outlet and disconnect all HDMI devices connected to your TV—including your Fire TV.

Reconnect your Fire TV to its power source and connect the streaming device to your TV’s HDMI port. Connect your Fire TV to a different HDMI port if it keeps restarting.

Open your Fire TV Settings, select Display & Sounds, and set “HDMI CEC Device Control” to OFF.

5. Remove Your Fire TV Remote Batteries

A malfunctioning remote controller might restart your Fire TV at random intervals. Take out the batteries in your Fire TV Remote if it’s faulty or some buttons malfunction. That’ll disconnect the remote from your Fire TV.

Buy a replacement remote from Amazon if your Fire TV no longer restarts after disconnecting the remote. You can also use the Fire TV app to control the streaming device from your Android or iOS smartphone.

6. Update Your Fire TV Device

Does your Fire TV stay on for some minutes before restarting automatically? Updating the streaming device’s software might resolve the issue. Connect your Fire TV to the internet when it comes back on, and follow the steps below to update its software.

  1. Select the gear icon in the top-right corner of your Fire TV home screen and choose My Fire TV.
  1. Select About.
  1. Choose Check for Updates to prompt your Fire TV to scan for software updates.

Select Install Update to install a pre-downloaded software update.

Keep your Fire TV connected to its power source during the software update. The installation could take up to 20-30 minutes, depending on your internet speed and Fire TV model.

7. Try a Different TV

Amazon Fire TV devices only work on TVs that support High Digital Content Protection (HDCP)—an encryption technology that prevents unauthorized duplication of digital content. Connecting your Fire TV to a non-HDCP-complaint television might cause the streaming device to keep going on and off.

HDCP was introduced for HDMI connectors and devices in June 2003. The majority of TVs released in June 2003 or later are HDCP-compatible. Your Fire TV might keep restarting or fail to turn on if connected to TVs released before June 2003.

Check your TV’s instruction manual or contact the manufacturer to verify its HDCP-compliance status. Connect your Fire TV to a compatible TV if yours doesn’t support the HDCP digital copyright protection standard.

Rebooting your TV and updating its software/firmware could also fix issues causing your Fire TV to malfunction.

8. Factory Reset Your Fire TV

Resetting your Fire TV to factory default can fix performance and software issues. The factory-reset operation wipes your Fire TV and deletes all files, account data, and settings on the streaming device.

If your Fire TV stays on briefly before entering the restart loop, reset it to factory default as quickly as possible.

Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults and select Reset on the confirmation screen.

You can also initiate a factory reset using your Amazon Fire TV Remote. Press and hold the Back/Return button and Right navigation button on the remote controller for 5-10 seconds.

Release both buttons when a “Reset to Factory Defaults” screen pops up and select OK to start the factory reset.

Contact Amazon Device Support

Your Amazon Fire TV device likely has a hardware defect if it keeps restarting after trying the above fixes. Return your Fire TV to the retailer or contact Amazon Fire TV Support for technical support.

Hulu Live TV plans (from $69.99/month) include free access to the ESPN+ streaming service. You can access all ESPN+ content and live broadcasts in the Hulu app or website with a Live TV plan.

Alternatively, log in to the ESPN app with your Hulu account credentials to watch the 2023 Cricket World Cup games. If you have the Hulu base plan, get the ESPN+ add-on ($9.99/month) to access the tournament on your devices.

9Now (Channel 9 or Nine Network)

Channel 9 is a free-to-air TV network with broadcast rights for the 2023 Cricket World Cup in Australia. Create a Nine account and log in to the 9Now app or website to watch all Cricket World Cup matches. 9Now’s streaming service is free but geo-restricted to Australian residents.

Enjoy Cable-Free Cricket Livestream

These are the best sports streaming platforms to watch the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup online without cable TV. Sadly, only 9Now offers free streaming—for Australians. However, other platforms have affordable subscription plans. Depending on your region and preferred streaming platform, you can watch the 2023 Cricket World Cup online for less than $10.

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) could help bypass the geo-restriction if your preferred streaming platform isn’t available in your region. We do not recommend using a VPN if it violates a streaming platform’s usage terms and conditions.

Charging Samsung Galaxy smartwatches is straightforward, but things could go wrong if you use unsupported or knockoff charging accessories. This tutorial covers everything you need to know about charging Samsung Galaxy watches.

You’ll learn how to charge your Galaxy Watch properly and things to avoid when charging the smartwatch.

Charge Galaxy Watches Using Flat Magnetic Charging Dock

The following Samsung Galaxy Watch series use the magnetic flat charging dock:

  • Galaxy Watch Active
  • Galaxy Watch Active2
  • Galaxy Watch3
  • Galaxy Watch4 series
  • Galaxy Watch5 series
  • Galaxy Watch6 series

These watch series include a magnetic charging cable in their packaging. If your watch’s original charger is missing or damaged, buy a replacement from Amazon or Samsung’s online store. Follow these steps to charge the above Galaxy Watch series with a magnetic charging dock.

  1. Insert the USB end of the charging cable into a wall charger or adapter.
  2. Next, plug the adapter into a power source—wall socket, power bank, power station, computer USB port, etc.
  3. Place your Galaxy Watch (facing upward) on the magnetic charging dock and turn on the wall outlet/socket.

Samsung recommends using only authentic accessories to charge your Galaxy Watch. You’ll find Samsung-approved wall chargers on Samsung’s website or nearby Samsung Experience Stores.

If you have the Galaxy Watch4 or older, ensure your wall charger has a 4.5W power output rating or higher. For Galaxy Watch5 and Watch 5 Pro, a 9W (or higher) adapter guarantees fast-charging speed. Chargers with power ratings below the minimum requirements will charge your Galaxy Watch slowly.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro have an updated USB-C charger that supports the Power Delivery (PD) fast-charging standard. Using the cable with a USB-C PD adapter will charge the Galaxy Watch5 faster than regular non-PD adapters.

Use the Galaxy Watch Wireless Charging Dock

Samsung watches released between 2017 and 2018 (Galaxy Watch, Gear S3, and Gear Sport) charge wirelessly using a charging dock. These watch series ship with a wireless charging dock in their packaging. Buy a replacement charging dock from Amazon or Samsung online store if yours is faulty or missing.

  1. Insert a cable into the micro-USB charger port on the back of the charging dock.
  1. Plug the other end of the cable into a power adapter and connect the charger to a wall socket.
  2. Place your Galaxy Watch on the dock, ensuring the back of the smartwatch aligns with the center of the dock.
  3. Turn on the wall socket to start charging your watch.

The LED indicator on the dock turns red when charging and green when fully charged.

Use Wireless Chargers or Charging Pads

The Samsung Wireless Charger Trio has a dedicated spot for Galaxy watches and two other devices. However, it only supports the Galaxy Watch3, Watch Active2, and Galaxy Active.

The embedded magnet in the dedicated spot holds your watch in place when charging. The third LED indicator should display a solid RED light when your watch charges and green when fully charged.

Although Galaxy watches don’t support the Qi wireless charging standard, some third-party Qi-certified wireless chargers claim to charge Galaxy watches. Using these non-compatible charging accessories could damage your watch or its battery.

Charge Galaxy Watch Using Wireless PowerShare

Wireless PowerShare allows Samsung smartphones to charge other devices wirelessly. The table below lists Samsung phones and Galaxy watches that support Wireless PowerShare.

Samsung Phones/Tablets That Support Wireless Powershare Galaxy Watches That Support Wireless PowerShare
Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra
Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Z Fold
Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro
Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic

Your Samsung phone or tablet must have at least 30% battery level to charge other devices via Wireless PowerShare. Follow the steps below to charge your Galaxy Watch using Wireless PowerShare.

  1. Swipe down from the top of your phone or tablet’s display to open the notification panel.
  2. Tap Wireless power sharing to activate Wireless PowerShare.
  3. Place your Galaxy Watch face-up on the back of your phone or tablet. If your watch doesn’t charge, remove your phone case and align the watch to the center of your device.

Charging Tips for Samsung Galaxy Watches

Samsung advises charging new Galaxy watches before using them for the first time after unboxing. You should also fully charge the smartwatch if left unused for lengthy periods.

Charging speed will vary depending on your Galaxy Watch series, charger power rating, and other factors. For instance, the Galaxy Watch5 will typically charge faster than the Watch5 Pro because the latter has a bigger battery. According to Samsung, a 30-minute charge will fill the Watch5 by 45% and Watch5 Pro by 35%.

Also, your Galaxy Watch will charge faster on its original/official charger than Wireless PowerShare or wireless charging pads. Generally, power sources with low electric current (computer USB ports, for instance) will charge your watch slower.

Damages caused by unsupported accessories or improper charging aren’t covered by warranty. Hence, use only authentic or official Samsung charging accessories to charge your Galaxy Watch.

Charging accessories don’t have the same water or dust resistance certifications as Galaxy watches. Avoid exposing your watch’s charger to liquid, sweat, or dust.

Dry your Galaxy Watch with a clean cloth before charging it after any workout activity.

Charging from a computer or using your Galaxy Watch while charging will increase the charge time. Charge your watch directly from a wall outlet and leave it to charge fully.

An unstable power supply might cause your Galaxy Watch’s touch screen to malfunction while charging. If that happens, disconnect your watch from the charger, and try a different power source. Use a different power adapter or charging cable/dock if the touchscreen malfunction persists.

Galaxy Watch Not Charging? Here’s What to Do

Your Galaxy Watch won’t charge if there’s an issue with its battery, charging cable, adapter, or power outlet. Refer to our tutorial on fixing Samsung Galaxy Watch charging problems for troubleshooting solutions.

You could also visit a Samsung Service Center near you for assistance. They’ll have your watch examined for factory defects or hardware damage.

Connectivity issues can prevent the Google Home app from establishing a connection with Chromecast devices. You might also encounter the “Could not communicate with your Chromecast” error if your phone or Chromecast runs outdated or buggy software.

Follow the troubleshooting recommendations in this tutorial to get your mobile device linked to your Chromecast.

Troubleshoot Network or Connectivity Issues

Your phone and Chromecast must be on the same Wi-Fi network when setting up the Google Home app. Check your phone and Chromecast’s settings and ensure they connect to the network.

You also want to ensure that the network has internet access. Visit any website in your browser, download a file, or try steaming a video. Reboot your Wi-Fi router or contact your internet service provider if devices connected to the network don’t have internet access.

Additionally, check your router’s MAC address filtering settings and remove any restriction placed on your phone or Chromecast.

We also recommend turning off your Chromecast and phone’s Wi-Fi and turning it back on. That will refresh your devices’ Wi-Fi connection and possibly resolve connectivity glitches.

Delete and reconnect your devices to the network if the “Could not communicate with your Chromecast” error persists.

Re-Enable or Forget Wi-Fi on Chromecast

  1. Press and hold the Home button for 2-3 seconds to open the Quick Settings panel.
  2. Select Wi-Fi on the Quick Settings menu.
  1. Toggle off Wi-Fi, turn it back on, and wait for your Chromecast to rejoin the network.

Delete and reconnect your Chromecast to the network if the Google Home app still doesn’t detect the streaming device.

  1. Select the connected Wi-Fi network on the “Network & Internet” screen.
  1. Scroll down the network page and select Forget network.
  1. Return to the Wi-Fi settings page and reconnect your Chromecast to the network.

Re-Enable or Forget Wi-Fi on Android

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Internet, turn Wi-Fi off, and turn it back on to reconnect to the network.

If your phone doesn’t run stock Android, head to Settings > Connections and toggle off Wi-Fi.

Re-enable your device’s Wi-Fi and rejoin the network. Delete and re-add the network if the Google Home doesn’t connect to your Chromecast.

Tap the Cog/Settings icon next to the network you want to forget and select Forget.

Reconnect your phone to the network, open the Google Home app, and retry the Chromecast setup.

Re-Enable or Forget Wi-Fi on iPhone/iPad

Head to Settings > Wi-Fi, turn off Wi-Fi, and toggle it back on.

To delete the network, tap the network name, select Forget This Network, and tap Forget on the pop-up.

Switch (your phone and Chromecast) to a different Wi-Fi network if the “Could not communicate with your Chromecast” error persists. Resetting your phone’s network settings can also fix internet connection problems.

Check Bluetooth Settings and Location Permission

The Google Home app uses your phone’s Bluetooth and location to establish communication with Chromecast devices. Turn on your device’s Bluetooth and ensure Google Home has location permission.

Enable Google Home Location Permission (Android)

Close or force-close the Google Home app and follow these steps.

  1. Long-press the Home app icon and select the Info (I) icon.
  2. Tap Permissions.
  3. Select Location and choose Allow all the time or Allow only while using the app.

Configure Google Home Location Permissions (iPhone/iPad)

Open the Settings app, select Google Home, and toggle on access to Bluetooth and Local Network.

Afterward, head to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services and turn on Location Services.

Restart Google Home and Clear the App Cache

Clearing the cache data of a malfunctioning app can get the app working correctly again. If you’re getting the “Could not communicate with your Chromecast” error on an Android device, force close the Google Home app and clear its cache data.

  1. Press and hold the Home app and tap the Info (i) icon.
  2. Select Force stop and tap OK on the confirmation pop-up.
  1. Next, select Storage on the app details page and tap Clear cache.

Open the Google Home app and check if it successfully connects to your Google Chromecast device. Update the Google Home app if the communication error persists.

Update or Reinstall the Google Home App

Ensure you have the latest version of the Google Home app. Older or outdated versions could contain bugs that break certain functionalities. Open your device’s app store and check for an update to the Google Home app.

Search for “google home” in the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and tap Update on the Google Home app page.

Update Your Phone

Android and iOS updates can resolve connectivity issues and help applications perform optimally. Check your phone’s settings menu and install available software updates.

Go to Settings > System > Advanced > System update and wait for your device to scan for software updates.

On Samsung devices, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install to update the operating system.

If you use an iPhone or iPad, head to Settings > General > Software Update and tap Download and Install.

Restart Your Chromecast

Rebooting your Chromecast can restore the streaming device’s visibility in the Google Home app.

  1. Select the Cog/Settings icon in the top-right corner of your Chromecast home screen.
  1. Select System.
  1. Scroll down the system page, select Restart, and choose Restart again on the confirmation screen.

You can also perform a hard reboot by turning your Chromecast’s power supply off and back on. Alternatively, unplug the power cable, wait 5-10 seconds, and reconnect the cable to the power source.

Connect your phone and Chromecast to the same Wi-Fi network and check if the Home app connects to your Chromecast.

Update Your Chromecast

Google occasionally rolls out updates containing bug fixes and feature improvements to Chromecast devices. Updating the streaming device’s software/firmware might resolve the issue if Google Home doesn’t connect to your Chromecast.

  1. Press and hold the Home button on your Chromecast’s remote and select the Cog/Settings icon.
  1. Select System.
  1. Next, select Software update or System update.
  1. Wait a few seconds for your Chromecast to check for new software or firmware versions. If there’s an update available for your Chromecast, select Install to start the system update.
  1. Select Restart now to install the downloaded update.

Factory Reset Your Chromecast

Factory resetting your Chromecast wipes all data (app, files, settings, account, etc.) on the streaming device. Perform a factory reset only after exhausting all troubleshooting options.

Factory Reset Chromecast Using Chromecast Voice Remote

Follow the steps below to reset the Chromecast with Google TV using the Voice Remote.

  1. Press and hold the Home button on your Chromecast remote and select the Cog/Settings icon.
  1. Head to System > About > Factory reset.
  1. Select Factory reset again on the confirmation screen to proceed.

Factory Reset Chromecast Using Physical Button

Chromecasts have a physical button for initiating a factory reset. The location of the reset button will vary depending on your Chromecast model/generation. The Chromecast with Google TV has its reset button on the back, while older models/generations have theirs on the side.

To reset your Chromecast, plug it into a power source, then press and hold the reset button. Keep pressing the button when the Chromecast LED light blinks yellow/orange. Release the reset button when the light turns white and your Chromecast restarts.

Connect your phone and Chromecast to the same network, open Google Home, and check if the app detects your Chromecast.

Link Google Home to Chromecast

Contact Google Support if Google Home keeps displaying the “Could not communicate with your Chromecast” error—especially if it’s your first time setting up the Chromecast. There’s a chance that your Chromecast has factory defects. Contact the seller or send it back for a replacement unit.

Do Not Disturb (DND) limits distraction and improves focus by muting notifications and alerts. You can even configure the feature to silence notifications from specific apps or contacts.

If you enabled DND by accident or no longer need to silence notifications, follow the steps below to turn it off.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb (Stock Android)

Google Pixel phones and Android One devices typically run the basic or pure Android operating system—popularly called Stock Android. You can turn off Do Not Disturb from the Settings menu or Notification Panel on stock Android devices.

Disable Do Not Disturb from the Notification Panel

  1. Swipe down from the top of your phone’s screen to open the Notification Panel.
  2. Locate the Do not disturb icon and tap it to turn off the feature.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb in Settings Menu

  1. Open the Settings app and select Sound (or Sound & vibration).
  2. Tap Do Not Disturb.
  3. Tap the Turn Off Now button to deactivate Do Not Disturb on the device.

Check the “Schedules” section and turn off all configured Do Not Disturb schedules.

  1. Tap Schedules and deselect the checkbox next to a Do Not Disturb schedule to turn it off.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb on Samsung Phones

The steps for disabling Do Not Disturb on Samsung devices are slightly different (from stock Android). This is due to differences in the user interface, design, and software skin.

On Samsung phones or tablets, you can turn off Do Not Disturb from the Notification Center, Quick Settings panel, System Settings, or using Bixby.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb from the Notification Center

When you enable Do Not Disturb on Samsung Galaxy devices, a “Do not disturb turned on” tile appears in the Notification Center. You can disable Do Not Disturb from the notification tile.

  1. Swipe down from the top of your device’s screen to open the Notification Center.
  2. Tap the down-facing arrow icon on the “Do not disturb turned on” tile.
  3. Tap Turn off to disable Do Not Disturb.

Can’t find “Do Not Disturb” in the Quick Settings panel? Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner and select Edit (or Edit buttons).

Tap and hold the Do not disturb icon, drag it to the Quick Settings area, and tap Done.

Afterward, tap the icon to enable or disable Do Not Disturb on your Android device.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb from Quick Settings Menu

  1. Swipe down from the top of your device’s screen and locate Do not disturb. Do Not Disturb is active if the tile has a blue highlight or background color.
  2. Tap the Do not disturb icon to turn off Do Not Disturb on your device.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb from the Settings Menu

  1. Open your phone’s Settings app and select Notifications.
  2. Select Do not disturb.
  3. Toggle off the Do not disturb option.

Additionally, check the “Schedule” section and turn off any Do Not Disturb schedule you no longer need.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb Using Bixby

If you’ve set up Bixby on your Samsung device, you can disable Do Not Disturb hands-free using the virtual assistant.

Unlock your phone and say, “Hi Bixby, turn off do not disturb.” or “Hi Bixby, turn off do not disturb.”

If Bixby doesn’t respond, press and hold your device’s Side button to summon Bixby and repeat the command.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb for Modes and Routines

Samsung allows you to create modes or routines that automatically activate certain features on your mobile device. In Driving mode, for instance, you can configure your phone to enable Do Not Disturb, switch wallpapers, read notifications aloud, or change media volume when it connects to your car Bluetooth.

If a Mode or Routine automatically enables Do Not Disturb, you should be able to turn it off in the Notification Center.

Swipe down from the top of your screen, expand the “Do not disturb turned on” card, and tap Turn off.

Follow the steps below to configure a Mode or Routine to stop automatically turning on Do Not Disturb.

  1. Go to Settings > Modes and Routines and select any mode or routine that’s active or turned on.
  2. Select the (active) Mode or Routine that automatically enables Do Not Disturb.
  3. Tap the Do not disturb toggle to turn it off.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb Using Google Assistant

You can turn off Do Not Disturb using voice command if you have Google Assistant set up on your Android device.

Unlock your phone and say, “Hey, Google! Turn off do not disturb.” or “OK, Google! Turn off do not disturb.”

You should hear a “Turning Do Not Disturb off” response. Tap OK to dismiss the Google Assistant.

Do Not Disturb Disabled

These are the methods available for disabling Do Not Disturb on Android devices. You can also follow the same steps to re-enable the feature on your device.

The Instagram app for Android and iOS has a built-in web browser. Without leaving the app, you can open links in Instagram stories, bios, DMs, and sponsored posts. However, issues with your internet connection or the Instagram app can prevent links from opening in the in-app browser.

Try the troubleshooting tips below if Instagram fails to open web links on your Android or iOS device.

1. Check Your Internet Connection

Instagram might fail to open website links on a slow, unstable, or weak internet connection. Switch to a Wi-Fi network if you’re using cellular data and open the link again.

Reboot your router or contact your internet service provider if the issue persists. Refresh your cellular and Wi-Fi connection by putting your phone in and out of airplane mode.

Swipe up from the top of your Android device’s screen and tap the airplane icon to enable airplane mode. Wait 3-5 seconds and tap the icon again to turn off airplane mode.

Alternatively, head to Settings > Network & internet (or Connections), toggle Airplane mode on, and turn it back off.

If you use an iPhone, open the Settings app, toggle on Airplane Mode, and turn it back on after a few seconds.

Reconnect your phone to the internet via cellular data or Wi-Fi, open Instagram, and check if the app opens web links.

If you’re using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), turn it off, and try opening the link again. Also, check your router, firewall, or proxy app settings for website restriction—especially if Instagram won’t open links to specific websites.

2. Clear Instagram’s Browser Cookies and Data

Instagram saves data from websites or links you visit in the in-app browser. Instagram might fail to open links if the browser’s data over-accumulates or gets corrupted. Clear Instagram’s browser data might get the app opening website links again.

Clear Instagram’s Browser Data (Android)

Open any website link on Instagram and follow the steps below.

  1. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner and select Browser settings.
  2. Tap Clear on the “Browsing data” row to clear Instagram’s in-app browser data.

Close the browser, reopen the link, and check if Instagram loads the website. Restart Instagram and open the link again if the issue persists.

Clear Instagram’s Browser Data (iOS)

Open any link in the Instagram app and follow the steps below.

  1. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner and select Browser settings.
  2. Tap Clear cookies and cache in the “Browsing Data” section.
  1. Select Clear browsing data on the confirmation pop-up to continue.

Close the browser and revisit the web link. Close and reopen Instagram if the browser still doesn’t load the website.

3. Force Close and Restart Instagram

Force close Instagram on your phone if the app doesn’t respond when you tap website links.

Force Close Instagram on Android

  1. Tap and hold the Instagram app icon on your device’s homepage or app library.
  2. Tap the Info (i) icon to open the Instagram app info page.
  3. Tap Force stop and select OK on the pop-up.
  1. Tap Open to restart Instagram and check if you can open links in the app.

Force Close Instagram on iPhone

If your iPhone has Face ID, swipe up from the bottom of your screen and stop in the middle of the screen. Locate Instagram in the App Switcher and swipe up the app to close it.

Double-click the Home button to open the App Switcher on iPhone SE, iPhone 8, or earlier models. Swipe up Instagram’s preview to close the app.

4. Use Your Phone’s Default Browser

Instagram blocks certain types of links—e.g., shortened links and links to platforms sharing explicit content or spam. You might also encounter trouble accessing links to other social media platforms like Telegram and Snapchat through Instagram.

If Instagram doesn’t open specific websites, try opening the links in your phone’s default browser or any external web browser.

On Instagram for Android, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner, and select Open in [Browser Name].

Alternatively, tap the menu icon, select Share via…, choose your browser in the share menu, and select Open in [Browser Name].

You can also copy Instagram links and open them in your preferred (external) browser. Tap the menu icon in the Instagram browser and select Copy link. Paste the copied link in your preferred browser to visit the website.

In the iOS Instagram app, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner, and select Open in system browser.

Want to change your phone’s default browser? See our tutorial on changing default browsers on iPhone and Android devices.

5. Update the Instagram App

Instagram might malfunction if you’re running an outdated version of the app on your device. Updating Instagram to the latest version can restore broken functionalities to normal.

Open the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone), search for “Instagram,” and tap Update to update Instagram.

6. Clear Instagram App Cache and Data (Android)

Delete Instagram’s cache or data if you still can’t open web links after updating the app.

  1. Press the Instagram app icon on your home screen or app library. Select the Info (i) icon on the pop-up menu.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Tap the Clear cache icon to delete Instagram’s cache files on your device.

Restart Instagram and check if the app opens website links. Clear Instagram’s app data (see step #4) if the issue persists.

  1. Return to Instagram’s storage info page (see steps #1 and #2) and tap Clear data.
  2. Select Delete or OK on the pop-up to proceed.

Reopen the app, sign into your Instagram account, and try opening website links in DMs, bios, or stories.

7. Contact the Instagram User or Page Admin

Web links won’t open in Instagram (or any browser) if broken or expired. If someone shared the link via direct message (DM), ask if they can access the webpage in their Instagram app or web browser.

If they can, you likely have the wrong URL/link. Request a new link from the sender/user or report the glitch to the website administrator. If an Instagram bio link isn’t clickable, text the user or page admin to send the link via DM.

8. Report the Problem to Instagram

If Instagram still won’t open links, there’s likely an unresolved bug or technical problem with the app. Report the issue to Instagram through the app’s settings menu. Open your Instagram profile and follow the steps to send a bug report.

  1. Tap the hamburger menu icon in the top-right corner and select Settings and privacy.
  2. Scroll to the “More info and support” section and tap Help.
  1. Select Report a Problem.
  2. Select Report problem without shaking.
  3. Tap Include and continue to include information about your device, account activity, and network logs in the report. Otherwise, select Don’t include and continue to proceed.
  1. Describe the issue you’re experiencing or type details of the link in the dialog box. If you’re getting a specific error when opening a link, attach a screenshot of the error in your report.
  2. Tap Send in the top-right corner to post your report to Instagram.

Access Webpages on Instagram

Uninstall and reinstall Instagram if the app still won’t open web links. Also, watch the Instagram page in your device’s app store for an update.

Is Disney+ crashing or freezing on your Amazon Fire TV? Does the Disney+ app display error messages when you attempt to stream movies and shows? Do you experience audio/video lags when streaming Disney+? The troubleshooting steps in this tutorial should get Disney+ working smoothly on your Fire TV.

1. Check Your Internet Connection

Your connection speed has a direct impact on Disney+ streaming quality and performance. Unstable, slow, or inconsistent internet connection can cause video buffering, audio lag, and other streaming issues. Connectivity issues can also trigger several Disney+ error codes, preventing you from streaming movies or shows.

Disney+ recommends a 5.0 Mbps download speed for High Definition (HD) content and 25.0 Mbps for 4K content. Visit fast.com or speetest.net on your Fire TV web browser or any device connected to your network.

Restart or reset your Wi-Fi router if your download speed falls below Disney+ recommendation for the content quality you’re streaming. Switch to a lower video quality or contact your internet service provider if your connection speed still doesn’t meet the recommendation.

Switch to a different Wi-Fi network with a faster download speed that meets Disney+ recommendations.

2. Check for Server Downtime

There’s likely an issue with Disney Plus servers if the streaming app doesn’t work on your Fire TV and other supported devices. Check the Disney+ status page on Downdetector for possible server downtime or outage.

Server downtimes are often resolved quickly, so Disney+ should be back working on your Fire TV in no time. Contact Disney+ Help Center if the server downtime persists for hours.

Disney+ can also temporarily restrict access to the streaming service if it detects suspicious activities (e.g., repeated failed login attempts) from your IP address. Likewise, the streaming service sometimes displays specific error codes if it receives unusually high traffic from your IP address or to a specific movie title.

Restart your Fire TV and your router if you keep getting any of the following error messages:

  • Due to a high number of requests, we have temporarily throttled traffic from your IP address. Please try again later (Error Code 91).
  • Due to a high number of requests, we have temporarily throttled traffic from your IP address. Please try again later (Error Code 92).
  • We’re sorry, but we cannot play the video you requested. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact Disney+ Support (Error Code 41).

3. Force Close and Relaunch Disney Plus

Force closing a malfunctioning app can get it working correctly again. Force close Disney+ if the app occasionally or constantly freezes or crashes on your Fire TV.

  1. Select the gear icon in the top-right corner of your Fire TV home screen.
  2. Select Applications in the Settings menu.
  1. Choose Manage Installed Applications.
  1. Select Disney+.
  1. Select Force stop to terminate the Disney Plus application.
  1. Wait 5-10 seconds and select Launch application to reopen Disney+ Plus.

4. Restart Your Fire TV

Rebooting your Fire TV can resolve temporary system glitches and app malfunctions. Performing a device reboot also frees up memory for applications to run smoothly without issues.

Head to Settings > My Fire TV > Restart and select Restart on the confirmation screen.

You can also initiate a system reboot using a remote shortcut. Press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons on your Fire TV Remote for 3-5 seconds.

Release both buttons when you see a “Your Amazon Fire TV is Powering Off” on your screen.

Perform a hard reboot if you can’t find your Fire TV Remote or if you have a faulty remote. Unplug your Fire TV device from its power source and wait 10-30 seconds.

Reconnect the streaming device to its power source, wait for it to boot, and check if Disney+ works without issues.

5. Clear Disney+ Cache and Data

Disney+ app might malfunction if its cache files get corrupted. Force-close Disney+, clear its cache file, and restart the app. If the malfunction persists, delete the Disney+ data, and relaunch the application.

Note: Deleting Disney+ data removes the application’s settings, files, and account info from your Fire TV.

  1. Head to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications and select Disney+.
  1. Select Clear Cache.

Reopen Disney Plus and try streaming a movie or show. Clear the app’s data (see step #3) if the issue persists.

  1. Select Clear data.
  1. Select Clear data again on the confirmation screen.

Reopen Disney+, sign in to your Disney Plus account, and check if the app works without issue.

6. Update the Disney+ App

You might encounter issues streaming Disney+ if you have an outdated app version. Follow the steps below to update Disney Plus to the latest version in the Fire TV App Store.

  1. Open the App Store app on your Fire TV home screen.
  1. Head to the App Library tab and open the Installed on this TV category.
  1. Navigate to the Disney+ app icon and press the Menu button on your Fire TV Remote.
  1. You’ll see an “Update” option on the menu if a new Disney+ version is available for your Fire TV. Select Update to install the latest Disney+ version on your device.

We recommend enabling “Automatic Updates” on your Fire TV so it automatically updates Disney+ and any outdated app.

Head to Settings > Applications > App Store and set Automatic Updates to “ON.”

7. Update Your Fire TV

Fire TV devices running an outdated or buggy software version might encounter issues running certain applications. Amazon often releases Fire OS updates that resolve system failures and app malfunctions. Head to your Fire TV settings menu and install any update available for your Fire TV.

Connect your Fire TV to the internet and go to Settings > My Fire TV > About. Select Check for Updates and wait while your Fire TV downloads any available update.

If your Fire TV downloaded an update in the background, select Install Update to start the update.

The software update could take up to 30 minutes, depending on the update size, Fire TV model, and internet speed. Open Disney+ after the update and check if updating your Fire TV resolved the issue.

Are you having trouble updating the software on your Fire TV devices? Check out the troubleshooting recommendations in this article—Top 7 Fixes to Try If Your Fire TV Isn’t Updating.

8. Reinstall Disney Plus

Remove Disney+ from your Fire TV and reinstall the application if the app malfunctions after trying the fixes above.

Head to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Disney+ and select Uninstall.

Select Confirm on the confirmation screen to uninstall the app.

Restart your Fire TV and reinstall Disney+ from the Amazon App Store or sideload the APK from third-party sources.

Get Disney+ Working Again

You should also consider factory resetting your Fire TV if Disney+ (and other streaming apps) doesn’t work after trying the troubleshooting steps above.

Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults and select Reset on the confirmation screen.

Resetting your Fire TV deletes everything (apps, settings, saved networks, downloaded files, etc.) on the streaming device and unlinks it from your Amazon account.

Set up your device after the reset (see: How to Set Up Amazon Fire TV) and install Disney+. Contact Disney+ Help Center or Amazon Device Support if the Disney+ app still malfunctions.

ABC will also provide a one-day live coverage of all middle Sunday matches (September 3) in the U.S. If you don’t have cable TV, you can watch the US Open on digital streaming platforms offering these channels.

Check out the US Open website for platforms to stream the tournament live coverage in and outside the U.S.

YouTube TV

All three channels (ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC) broadcasting the 2023 US Open matches are available on YouTube TV. You can enjoy YouTube TV for free for 14 days if it’s your first time signing up for the streaming service. Otherwise, you must buy the $72.99 monthly plan to watch the US Open online on YouTube TV.

Joining a YouTube TV family group is an alternate way to access the streaming service for free.

YouTube TV works on mobile devices, computers, smart TVs, and streaming media players like Apple TV, Fire TV Stick, etc. Check out all YouTube TV-supported devices and their system requirements.

ESPN+

ESPN will broadcast the US Open live stream through its cable-free platforms—ESPNplus.com and the ESPN app. You need an ESPN+ subscription ($9.99/month or $99.99/year) to watch the tournament on these platforms.

Once subscribed, install the ESPN app on your device or visit ESPNplus.com in a web browser to watch the US Open online.

fuboTV

fuboTV is available in the United States, Canada, and Spain. However, the channels (ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC) providing live coverage of the US Open are only available to users in the United States and U.S. territories.

You can access these channels using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) outside the U.S. fuboTV’s base plan costs $74.99/month and includes a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers.

DIRECTV Stream

The $74.99/month DIRECTV Stream “Entertainment” package offers both ESPN and ESPN2 in its channel lineup. You can watch the 2023 US Open online on DIRECTV Stream anywhere in the U.S. using compatible smartphones, browsers, and streaming devices.

Tune in to ESPN or ESPN2 to catch live actions from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on your streaming device.

Stan offers first-time subscribers a 30-day free trial for its base plans, but you must buy the Sport add-on.

The Sports Network (TSN)

TSN is the official US Open broadcast partner in Canada. Get the $19.99 TSN monthly plan to watch US Open online on your mobile or streaming devices. You can live stream the tournament through the TSN website or mobile app.

There’s a cheaper way to watch the 2023 US Open on Hulu. Subscribe to the $7.99/month standard plan and add the ESPN+ add-on ($9.99/month) to your subscription. That way, you can watch the US Open and other live ESPN+ programming in the Hulu app or website without a Live TV plan.

Eurosport or Eurosport Player

Eurosport is the best platform to watch Grand Slam tennis tournaments (Australian Open, Wimbledon, French Open, and US Open) in Europe. You need a Eurosport Monthly Pass and a supported device to watch the US Open online without cable.

Amazon rolls out software updates to introduce new features and fix bugs on Fire TV devices. Updating your Fire TV device can improve its performance and resolve other malfunctions.

This tutorial will show you how to update the software on Amazon Fire TV devices to the latest version. You’ll also learn how to update your Fire TV Remote.

Note: The steps in this tutorial apply to all models or generations of Amazon Fire TV devices.

How to Update Your Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV device automatically downloads software updates when connected to the internet. The streaming device installs downloaded updates automatically when idle or not in use.

You can manually download and install software updates in the Fire TV settings menu. Connect your Fire TV device to a Wi-Fi or Ethernet network and follow the steps below to update its software.

  1. Select the gear icon in the top-right corner of your Fire TV home screen.
  2. Select My Fire TV on the settings page.
  1. Next, select About on the “My Fire TV” page.
  1. Scroll down the “About” page and select Check for Updates.

Your Fire TV should start downloading an update if its software is out-of-date.

If your Fire TV downloaded an update in the background, you’ll find an Install Update option on the screen. Select Install Update to start the software update process.

The installation could take up to 30 minutes, depending on your Fire TV device and internet connection speed. Don’t press any button on your Fire TV remote while the update installs.

Update Your Fire TV Remote

Does your Fire TV Remote occasionally malfunction? Updating its software might fix the issue and get it working correctly again. You can update your Fire TV Remote’s software in the Fire OS Settings menu.

  1. Open your Fire TV Settings and select Controllers and Bluetooth Devices.
  1. Select Amazon Fire TV Remotes.
  1. Navigate to your Amazon Fire TV Remote. You’ll find an option to update your Fire TV Remote if there’s an update available for the remote control.

Keep your Fire TV Remote paired or connected to your Fire TV during the update. Also, don’t move your Fire TV Remote when updating its software to avoid dislodging the batteries and interrupting the update.

Can’t Update Your Fire TV? Try These Fixes

Here are some troubleshooting steps to take if you have trouble updating the software on your Fire TV.

1. Check Your Internet Connection

Problems with your internet connection can interrupt or prevent the download and installation of software updates. Check your network connection status if you have trouble updating your Fire TV device.

Go to Settings > Network, navigate to the internet network, and press the Pause/Play button on your Fire TV Remote.

You’ll see “Connected to Wi-Fi” and “Connected to the internet” messages if your Fire TV has an internet connection.

Reboot or reset your router if the Connection Status page displays a “Connected with problems” or “No network connection” message. Contact your internet service provider if the issue persists.

2. Restart Your Fire TV

Does your Fire TV fail to download or install software updates despite having an internet connection? Restart the streaming device and try reinstalling the update.

Head to Settings > My Fire TV, select Restart, and wait for your Fire TV to reboot.

Alternatively, press and hold the Select and Pause/Play buttons on your Fire TV Remote for at least five seconds.

Perform a hard reboot if your Fire TV or Fire TV Remote is unresponsive. Unplug your Fire TV power cable from the wall outlet and plug it back in after 10-15 seconds.

3. Factory Reset Your Fire TV

Reset your Fire TV to factory default if you still can’t update the software on the streaming device. Note that performing a factory reset deletes your account information and downloaded content (apps, in-app purchases, etc.) on your Fire TV.

Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults and select Reset on the confirmation prompt.

Get Your Fire TV Updated

Updating Fire TV devices is a straightforward task. The troubleshooting recommendations above should fix issues you might encounter while updating your Fire TV. Otherwise, contact Amazon Device Support for technical assistance.

Picsart is one of the best photo and video editing apps for Android and iOS devices. The video editor offers a suite of effects, music, AI tools, and templates for creating short clips, slideshows, and videos for social media—TikTok, Instagram, etc.

If you often edit videos with Picsart, unfinished projects and videos files can quickly consume your device’s storage space. This tutorial covers steps for deleting unneeded Picsart video files on Android devices.

Delete Picsart Video Files in Gallery

Picsart video files are accessible in your device’s Gallery or Picture app. Open your phone’s Picture or Gallery app and check the “Videos” folder or category.

Depending on the model of your Android device, you might also find Picsart video files in the “Recents” or “Recently Added Images” category.

Check thumbnails to locate the Picsart video file(s) you want to delete. Tap and hold the video, tap the Delete or Bin icon, and select Delete or Move to Trash.

Delete Picsart Video Files in Your File Manager

You can also find and delete saved Picsart edits through your phone’s built-in File Manager or any third-party file management app.

  1. Open the Videos category in your File Manager app.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner, select View, and switch to a List or Detailed List view.
  1. Check for video clips whose filenames start with “Picsart.”

If there are many Picsart video files in the folder, use the creation date and time below to locate a specific video you want to delete. Double-check or preview the video to avoid deleting an important video/file.

  1. Tap and hold the video file(s) you want to delete and tap the Delete icon.
  2. Select Delete or Move to Trash to proceed.

You’ll also find Picsart video files in the “Movies” folder of your device’s internal storage. Return to your phone’s default Files app or File Manager and open the Internal storage folder.

  1. Locate and open the Movies folder.
  1. Select the three-dot icon next to the Picsart video file you want to delete and select Delete, Move to Trash, or Delete permanently.

Items in the Bin/Trash folder also take up your phone’s storage space. We advise deleting unneeded Picsart video files permanently to free up storage space.

Delete Unfinished Picsart Video Projects

Picsart allows users to save unfinished edits as video projects. Deleting Picsart video projects you don’t need can free up a tremendous amount of storage space on your device. Open the Picsart app and follow the steps below to delete unfinished video projects.

  1. Tap the Create or Plus icon.
  2. Head to the Videos tab and check the “My Projects” section for unfinished video projects.
  3. Tap See All to view all unfinished video projects.

Deleted video projects are not recoverable. Hence, we recommend previewing each project so you don’t delete the wrong video.

  1. Tap and hold the video project you want to delete and select Delete Project on the pop-up.

Can’t Find or Delete Picsart Video Files? Try These Fixes

Restart your Android phone and try deleting Picsart video files again. Update Picsart to the latest version if you still can’t find or delete videos created in the photo-editing app.

Does your Chromecast with Google TV fail to respond to its remote control? Do some remote buttons work while others perform no function? We’ll show you several ways to troubleshoot the Chromecast Voice Remote and get it working again.

Google Chromecast Remote Not Working? 7 Fixes to Try image

1. Use Your Phone as Virtual Remote

The Google Home app has a built-in virtual Chromecast remote control. Use the Google Home app to navigate your Chromecast if the physical remote isn’t working.

Connect your smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast and follow the steps below.

  1. Install Google Home on your Android or iOS smartphone and sign into the Google account linked to your Chromecast.
  2. The app should automatically detect your Chromecast if it’s on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. Head to the Devices tab and select your Chromecast.

Tap the Add button to manually link your Chromecast if the Google Home app doesn’t detect it automatically.

  1. Tap Remote (iOS) or Open remote (Android) to launch the Chromecast virtual remote.
Use Your Phone as Virtual Remote image

The Google Home app will display the virtual remote control on your phone screen.

You can customize the virtual remote to use Swipe or D-pad navigation control. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner and select Swipe control or D-pad control.

2. Check Battery Status or Replace Batteries

Check Battery Status or Replace Batteries image

Your Chromecast remote won’t work if its batteries are dead or inserted incorrectly. Check the battery level of your Voice Remote in the settings menu.

Open the virtual Chromecast remote in the Google Home app and follow the steps below.

  1. Select your profile picture/icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.
Check Battery Status or Replace Batteries image 2
  1. Choose Remotes & Accessories.

Open your Voice Remote’s back cover and check that the batteries are secure and fitted correctly. Align the battery polarities—positive(+) and negative(-) sides—in line with the inscription in the battery compartment. The LED light on the Chromecast Voice Remote should pulse twice when you reinsert the batteries.

Insert two new 1.5 Volts AAA alkaline batteries in your Voice Remote if the LED light doesn’t flash. Ensure you replace both batteries, not one—the issue might persist if you mix old and new batteries.

3. Update Your Chromecast Remote

The Chromecast Voice Remote might malfunction if its firmware needs to be updated. Use the Google Home app virtual remote to check if there’s an update available for your remote.

  1. Select your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  1. Choose Remotes & Accessories.

The remorse should automatically pair with your Chromecast after the reset. If it doesn’t, or the LED light keeps flashing, pair the remote manually using the virtual remote in the Google Home app.

  1. Go to Settings > Remotes & Accessories > Pair remote or accessory.

Perform a factory reset if the remote still doesn’t work after updating your Chromecast’s software.

7. Reset Your Chromecast

Factory resetting your Chromecast deletes downloaded apps, files, settings, and accounts. We recommend resetting your Chromecast only when the troubleshooting fixes above fail to fix the remote malfunction.

You can reset your Chromecast from the Google Home app or with the physical button on the streaming device.

Factory Reset Chromecast Using Virtual Remote

Open the virtual Chromecast remote in the Google Home app and follow the step below.

  1. Select your profile picture in the top corner and select Settings.
  2. Go to System > About and select Factory reset.

Release the button when the LED blinks yellow and then turns solid white. Your Chromecast should restart and automatically pair with the remote after the factory reset.

Fix Google Chromecast Remote

Contact Google Support if your Chromecast Voice Remote doesn’t work after trying all the recommendations above. You’ll get a replacement Voice Remote if the one you have has a factory defect. You can also purchase a replacement remote from Google Store or Amazon for $19.99.
